Dear Citizens of Harris County,
Like you, I am tired of seeing violent predators terrorizing our community and placing everyone at risk. I am tired of a local government that is out of touch with reality when it comes to public safety, and I am tired of defunding efforts to our local law enforcement agencies, including our District Attorney’s Office.
Our failed bond system allows violent offenders to continue to walk our streets and prey on new victims after getting bond after bond after bond. Criminals are emboldened by the lack of accountability from our failed government that has systematically ignored public safety, all in the name of “criminal justice”. It is time to send a strong message that enough is enough!
Public Safety is the number one duty of our local government. It is time to stand together as Harris County residents to demand a safe place to live, work, worship, and raise a family.
I was raised homeless and in poverty. I was a victim from the ages of 8 – 15. By God’s grace, I met a family at the Salvation Army who took me in to attend and graduate high school. Following service in the United States Air Force, I enrolled and graduated from College and The Thurgood Marshall School of Law. Protecting the most vulnerable among us comes naturally to me, and I will balance the victim’s rights with the accused’s rights. Victims will no longer fear the judicial system, where it seems everyone has a representative but the ones who suffer the scars of violent crime the most.
In my career as an attorney, I have served you and upheld citizens’ rights in the State of Texas, working on both sides of the law – sending violent offenders to prison as a prosecutor and protecting the rights of those wrongfully accused from convictions as a criminal defense attorney. I will champion a District Attorney’s Office that provides a positive work environment for all employees while attracting experienced prosecutors who support the Constitution, follow the law, and empathize with victims of crime.
My name is Dan Simons, and I will be the District Attorney who will work tirelessly to restore public safety and apply my skills to bring integrity, honor and transparency to an office that so desperately needs it.
